There is a certain feeling I distinctly remember from every summer of my childhood. Barefoot with the sun on my skin, running in the plush, green grass through the cool water of the sprinkler to my friends waiting on the other side. Over and over, and it never got old.
That is exactly what The Astronomer’s new single, “Like The Holidays” feels like to me.
The alt-pop duo just dropped the soon-to-be-a-hit single last Friday and it’s soaked in every one of those feel-good, dance-inducing vibes you need in your summer playlist. From the catchy hooks to the jovial horns, you will not be able to stop your head from bouncing along with the beat.
This is one of those tracks that need to come with a Surgeon General’s label: WARNING: This product may put you in a good mood.
The duo, made up of Ben Baker and Michael Stensland, said the single “is about living every day with the imagination that it is a holiday. Ben and I always would get so excited for holidays such as Christmas, 4th of July, etc… because it was always something to look forward to. This song will take you through a journey of little problems that are not meant to be worried about but otherwise to let happen. Enjoy the time you have and live every day like the holidays. The goal of the production was for it to sound like a celebration so it matched the hook ‘live every day like the holidays.’ The swung feel of the song and the carefree lyrics make this song a summer hit.”
This isn’t the first time a single from the duo has hit the ground running. Their lead single “Overthinking” off their sophomore EP “Guess It’s Just Life” received ample airplay on Wisconsin radio, including 101.1 WIXX, reaching #1 on top nine at 9.

“Bad Type” and “Hotel Rooms,” the first two singles off of their upcoming project have been in full rotation on 5 radio stations. “Hotel Rooms” recently charted at #88 on Mediabase and hit #1 on WIXX 101.1 where is has been placed in Power Rotation.
The Astronomers recently signed with Paladin Booking agency and have festival shows lined up at Summer Fest, Mile of Music, and will be opening up for artists such as Bayledges, Doublecamp, Bryce Vine, and others. The Astronomer recently opened up for Bryce Vine where they debuted their recent release “Turn out Fine” w/Sammy Rash.
