DJ and producer Brian Dawe took a step away from the decks and into the recording studio to record his new single “Western Vibes”. Dawe who previously toured with Rihanna, Backstreet Boys, and Jake Owen seems like he was ready to try something outside of his comfort zone.
“I sing on the chorus of ‘Western Vibes’, which was not easy for me and feels very vulnerable, but singing on and writing my own record was a goal of mine that I’m happy to have now accomplished. This isn’t a song a DJ should release. It’s not for the club. However, because of all the blood, sweat, and tears I put into this project I decided to allow myself to be a little venerable and release this record into the world. It’s not perfect, but it’s art that I created from the heart.” The DJ turned singer wrote on an instagram post about his release this past Friday.
Dawe most recently was the tour DJ for country superstar Jake Owen, appearing on stage with him at the iHeart Music Awards, NASCAR awards, and a lengthy tour last year. The DJ was previously a cast member on the VH1 TV show “Master Of the Mix” and received worldwide media attention for allegedly dating MTV’s Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham, which was surrounded in controversy after Dawe skipped out on a taping of VH1’s Couples Therapy stating the relationship was not genuine.
The song features Canadian-American alternative pop artist Jonny Craig. Jonny is primarily known for his achievements within the early 00s/late 00s post-hardcore genre. His extraordinary vocal style upended the punk genre on its head at the time, which in turn, pioneered a new wave of soul driven post-hardcore that would soon follow. Jonny was previously the lead singer of “Dance Gavin Dance”, “Emarosa”, “Isles and Glaciers”, and most recently “Slaves”.
The song also features Wild The Coyote, who has a unique sound described as rock ’n roll fused with country and blues. Wild The Coyote has previously toured with Yelawolf and often collaborates with hip hop artist Badd Wolf. He also has had his songs featured on the hit TV series “Yellowstone”.
“Western Vibes” is now streaming on all music platforms. For more information and current Brian Dawe tour dates, visit BrianDawe.com.
