Leezy Graii wants you to know what to expect from him.
The natural born artist has some big projects coming up, but he knows that loving himself comes first.
Bridge: Tell us who you are…
LG: – My Name is William Adams AKA Leezy Graii. I was born and raised on the westside of Chicago. I currently reside in Atlanta. I’m a rapper, singer, writer, and producer. I’ve written songs and did features for many independent artists and I’m currently going down the path that was intended for me, which is attempting to create timeless music and lifelong fans for generations to come.
Bridge: You are a man of many talents!
You were born into a family of singers and musicians. Did their love of music influence you or did you find the passion for it on your own?
LG: I wasn’t 100% but it played a big part for sure. I found music at a early age through them but there was a lot I discovered on my own that made me fall in love with it even more. It was always very clear to me what I wanted to do.
Bridge: I love that, being introduced to it but finding it on your own. I appreciate the individuality.
From there, you started performing live onstage at eight years old, Did it come naturally to you or were you shy at first?
LG: It came naturally. From a little boy I watched my mother and grandmother perform live so in my mind, I was mimicking them. Ironically thats how I continue to create music. Taking pieces from my inspiration and making it my own.
Bridge: So you grew up in Chicago but are in Atlanta now. What was it like transitioning from one music scene to the other?
LG: It was honestly seamless. I was welcomed with open arms here whereas at home, I had the support but not the tools. When I got to Atlanta they were given to me as soon as I got acquainted with everybody.
Bridge: That’s incredible!
I read that since then you’ve sang background for Robyn Charles, the daughter of the legendary Ray Charles. what was that like??
LG: It was a great. I learned alot from her and established relationships that I have to this day. I think it did alot for my perspective on life and music. She is so gifted and it was a pleasure working with her.
Bridge: I can’t imagine working that closely with someone like her!
After that, you went on to attend SAE. What was your focus there?
LG: My original thought was to go into it being a jack-of-all-trades. But eventually fell in love with being and artist. The original saying goes “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” I figured instead of being that on the technical side, I could do that with music. To create somewhat of a mystique in a sense so people know what to expect from me.
Bridge: Can you tell us what you have been working on in 2020?
LG: The Leezy Graii show is coming very soon! It’s a podcast/sketch show. My album “Charging Up’“ dropped on Thanksgiving last year and I’m dropping another one in the Spring of 2021. In the meantime, I have a couple of major collaborations coming soon that I’m very proud of! I’m also just working on myself as a person. I’m realizing that patience is only a virtue if you know how to use it! Being in love with ME is a necessity, and being patient with myself is part of that.
Bridge: Dang! That’ll preach. Can’t wait to check it out!
And finally, if you could pick any song to be the soundtrack of your life, what would it be?
