Glam metal band, Lÿnx is the 80’s throwback we didn’t know we needed…

Hailing from the great white north, members Lazer, Blade, Fangs and Flash bring together the style of the past and sophisticated production of the modern age…

Bridge: Thanks so much for chatting with us! Go ahead and tell us who you are! Tell us a little about yourselves individually…

Lÿnx: Absolutely! We’re happy to be here with you! So, we are Lÿnx from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is a band formed through the love of Rock n’ Roll. We are four guys who all love music and came together in Calgary, although none of us are from Alberta originally. Blade is originally from Kolkata, India. He grew up there and after listening to Appetite for Destruction, he became a Rock n’ Roll fan for life. Lazer, Fangs and Flash all grew up in Ontario. Lazer and Flash in the Toronto area and Fangs lived just outside of Ottawa. We always laugh about how funny it is that the three of us lived so close and came half way across the country to meet each other!

Bridge: (Laughs) Isn’t it crazy how life works out like that?

I read that the band was born in the pandemic, tell me a bit more about how you guys came together…

Bridge: What has the journey been like since then?

Lÿnx: What a wild and unconventional ride. Starting a band during a pandemic is something we can safely say not too many people have done before. With all the lockdowns and restrictions, we were forced to adapt a different way to get our music out there. Not being able to play live shows allowed us to hit the studio and scratch out 2 EPs before our first anniversary. Since then we have hit the ground running; getting through rehearsals, photoshoots, and good time to lay the foundation for what we know will be a long but exciting journey.

Bridge: That is incredible! Unconventional is certainly an understatement.

I’m always curious about the band dynamic. As a group, where does your inspiration come from for your music? Is it difficult focusing the creativity of a group into a singular vision?

Lÿnx: As a group we have a wide variety of inspirations we all bring to the table. Many different backgrounds, but one thing we can all agree on is the passion for the Rock n’ Roll we grew up with. Being able to agree on the Rock vision has allowed us to work well together bringing in bits and pieces of our individual inspirations. This lets us put a modern touch while maintaining the classic Rock n’ Roll sound.

Bridge: I love to hear that. Having that common foundation and vision is priceless in bands.

What is the grand vision for the band?

Lÿnx: It’s simple! We just want to rock the world everywhere and anywhere. Whether it’s a bar or a stadium we want to be rocking out with you reminding you of a time passed, but not forgotten.

Bridge: I think that just brought a rock n’ roll tear to my eye!

Let’s talk current: your new EP just dropped September 15th, tell us all about it!

Lÿnx: The new EP is a tribute to all the inspirational bands that came before us. Shouting out the likes of AC/DC, Van Halen, and Mötley Crüe while covering Black Sabbath’s Paranoid, the guys wanted to recreate the rock sound we all know and love. With a couple fast paced bangers, some melodic anthemic rock, and a song about that one girl we have in our lives we find irresistible. This EP is one to play on repeat.

Bridge: Well, I know what I’ll be blasting in my office!

Do yous have a favorite song from that EP?

Lÿnx: It has to be the title track ‘Long Live Rock n’ Roll’. This is our statement to the world as long as we are breathing. Rock n’ Roll ain’t ever gonna die! It’s also our personal message to the great bands that set the stage for us, we grew up listening and kid’s generations from now will remember them through us & their legacy lives on. Rock n’ Roll forever!

Bridge: Showing respect where it’s due, I love it!

Alright, where can we see you live?

Lÿnx: We will be playing live shows in the Calgary and Western Canada over the next few months. Next summer Lÿnx will also be headlining the Beyond: Music and Arts festival June 17 -19, 2022. Come check us out if you are in the area!

Bridge: Do you have your sights set on any new projects or are you focused on the new EP?

Lÿnx: Right now after releasing two albums in less than a year, we are focused on getting ready for shows. We have songs written for the next album which we are super pumped about. We are planning on releasing that album sometime in 2022.

Bridge: Love it. That’s a heck of a catalogue in such a short time, I respect that hustle!

Alright here we go; if you could choose ANY band to open for right now, who would it be and why?

Lÿnx: I think we can all agree that in the likes of Bon Jovi, AC/DC or Guns n’ Roses called us up, we would jump for joy at the opportunity to open for them. To be able to share a stage with any of the Rock Legends would be a huge honour for us.
