Calling all creatives! Scott Hughes, the creator of onlinebookclub.org is holding a massive contest with over $10,000 in prizes, including a $1,000 prize for each top winner in each of the following categories: short stories, poems, visual art and our personal favorite, SONGS! All submissions must be original and not previously published. Bridge readers, it’s time to let those songwriting gifts shine!

I’m sure you’re asking, what is OnlineBookClub.org and who is Scott Hughes? Well, let us tell you!

Ever the creative spirit, Scott Hughes, who was born and raised in Manchester, CT, created OnlineBookClub.org in 2006, at the age of 19. From that time until 2014, Scott worked various side jobs. Everything from being a server to a bartender at local restaurants. It was later that year that he gave them all up and went to work full-time at OnlineBookClub.org.

His hard work has more than paid off. As of November 2021, the site has over 2.7 million registered members!

It’s all quite fitting as Scott is a writer himself. To date, he has authored four books; “Justice: A Novella”, “10 Step Plan to Promote Your Book”, “Achieve Your Dreams”, “The Banned Book about Love.” He recently announced finishing the first draft of his next book “#InItTogether: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All”.

Scott continues to work growing the business but also makes time for other passions: charity and serving his community. On November 18th 2021, as a fundraiser to help homeless youth, Scott Hughes slept outside in his backyard, on a cold, November night in Connecticut. The fundraiser raised over $1,500, which was donated directly to the charity Covenant House. His company also donated over $1,000 to help build a new playground at a local elementary school in Manchester.

In addition, Scott was elected to the Board of Education in his hometown of Manchester, CT.

Before being elected to the Board of Education, he was the President of the town-wide PTA in Manchester, and a vice president on the state-wide Connecticut PTA. All three positions were unpaid volunteer positions.

Even with so many irons in the fire, Scott continues to grow and expand. His development team recently released an OnlineBookClub e-reading app meant to compete with Amazon Kindle, called OBC Reader, which is available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple Store:
