Texas State University To Offer A Harry Styles Class In 2023

Yep, you read that right.

Must Read

The exact title of the course is “Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet, and European Pop Culture.”

On July 16 Louie Dean Valencia, an Associate Professor of Digital History at Texas State University, tweeted that he would soon be teaching a course that cause mixed emotions among music fans. “It’s official, official. I’m teaching the world’s first ever university course on the work of Harry Styles,” tweeted Louie.

Valencia explained further, ““It’s really about the history of the last 12 years or so. So, it is about Harry Styles in the same way that some classes are about the Beatles and you might take a class like that to learn about, ‘What were the ‘60s like?’ …Really trying to kind of peel apart how did we become a part of the world that we’re living in today?”

If you thought this was the first time a college course was offered on an artist, you’d be wrong. Earlier this year, New York University’s Clive Davis Institute announced that a class taking a look at Taylor Swift’s musical impact and legacy would be offered.
